How to color in gimp?

-i just strated using gimp and i think its really awesome but im having a hard time coloring black and white pics like comic/manga pages. i wanted to know how to color the black parts on the picsOpen your black and white image in GIMP. Make sure it is in RGB colour mode - click Image > Mode > RGB (if it is already RGB that's fine). Then click Layer > New Layer. Change the layer mode in the layers dialog to "Multiply". Now select the paint brush, choose a new foreground colour and start painting in the colour. If you make a mistake, you can use the eraser tool on the colour layer without affecting the original drawing layer.
