-Im really bored and I wanted to draw I can't think of anything to draw (that's how bored i am.)
Thanks!!!!!!!!!Still life. Try to draw your desk or something and try to get the shadows right.
Or you could draw cartoons.
Or you could draw stick figures going step by step into a cartwheel or running or something lol
Find a book with a detailed picture on it, and try to imitate it.
I usually have that same problem lol. I seem to like drawing koi fish a lot since they're simple
your friends :) people love it when you draw them!

How to give my photos purpose?
-I'm a beginning photographer, and all my photos I feel have no purpose, composition, or meaning. Any help? Thanks!Take pictures of things you like, and try taking them from different angles. Find a book in the library about composition. One that I like and is really easy to follow is "David Pogue's Digital Photography: The Missing Manual". It offers great advice on taking different shots.

Usage of angles and lighting are very important, and try to take pictures of things, people, or moments that could touch people emotionaly. Just keep this in mind.

What information is supposed to be included in a watermark?
-Watermarks in photosSome people just put a huge 漏 right in the middle of their photos.
I place a semi-transparent watermark that says 漏 2011, My Name, All rights reserved right through the middle of the image. This precludes anyone just cropping out the copyright notice.
What else you can do if posting your work on a photo website for sharing, is make your image no larger than 600x400 pixels @ 72 DPI
Watermark symbols like 漏 庐 鈩?br>
Your name or signature
Date time
You company or group LOGO
Your private LOGO
See here http://www.watermark-software.com/sample鈥?/a>
it can be anything you want.... your name, or initials or copyrighted or the copyright logo
The name of the copyright holder.

Do you consider Jackson Pollock's paintings art?
-I have drop cloth that looks just like his work. Maybe I'll frame it and sell it to sucker.I like art, and I think Jackson Polluck is talented on some level, but what infuriates me is the fact that so many paintings in this world cost millions of dollars! Seriously, paintings are not worth a $100 million dollars. I don't care how rich a person is, but to spend that much money on any painting whether its Van Gogh, Picasso, or even Polluck is not worth it.
Yes. Do I enjoy looking at them? No. Just because you don't like them it doesn't render his work not art. Perhaps this is where the ideas of high-art and low-art come in. The idea that some art work is worth more to our culture and to us personally than others. Perhaps you should try reading a couple of articles or interviews where he talks about his work. Perhaps you might find it more interesting. I really enjoy Bridget Riley's work after discovering how much time she spends thinking about the colours and illusions she's creating. The straight lines have connections to painting painted by great masters. Perhaps Pollock is trying to convey something and we're just not 'getting' it. Although, clearly someone is enjoying it, and someone considers it art.
Pollock was an innovator, as such he has earned the respect of the public and his work is considered art by historians and critics. What I think is irrelevant... He will always be known for his unique contribution to the art world.
On the same level of other, Piet Mondrian, Joan Mir贸, Paul Klee, Alfredo Volpi
a five-year-old could do better
not even if someone who got their phd in art said so

People melt over something i do good .. .?
-hi! a lot of people melt over my drawings, or just be in surprise on what i just drew. i consider my self a good drawer, especially when it comes to horses :) i get my 'talent' from my dad.
well, anyways when i show a finished piece to someone they always say
"OMG you are SO good! i wish I could draw like THAT!"
and other things that an impressed person would say to an artist. call me crazy, but it's annoying! i know, some of you will say 'oh its a compliment' or 'its ok, they mean it in a nice way'. but it just bothers me. after the person has commented on my drawing, i say thanks and go put it away, or go about my Business yet again. my mom and dad say that i should be happy from these comments and embrace my drawing ability.
don't get me wrong, i'm proud of my skill, and i'm not bragging. i enjoy sharing accomplishments with my piers, even if it took half and hour. i would post a pic of 1 or 2 of my drawings, but i don't know how. ha ha!
well, all in all, here is my dilemma: how can i tell people it is no big deal, and its a drawing?
im no Picasso or Van Gogh, but i can draw better than the average 12 year old. help?
i am NOT bragging, please don't interpret it that way!!Don't worry, I get that a lot too. I feel the same way. Anyway, when anyone looks over my shoulder or comments, I get agitated and will either scribble the drawing out or hide it. Depends on how it looks.
I think that you are sensitive to people paying too much attention to your art, your style, it's almost as if somebody is violating your personal space, or something along those lines. Not many artists are really always happy with their work, and if someone is melting over that piece of art, it puts you under the impression that they're just simply happy with that, that that's all they expect of you and that you can't do any better in the future. You are probably very talented and don't feel that way, but I sure do. Once in a while I don't mind a little compliment to keep me ensured that I'm not a horrible artist, but I usually have nothing to do with my drawings or paintings in a crowd (which, to me, is more than four people) because the more people obsess, the more upset I would get.
Artistry has no roots whatsoever in the Thompson line, I can only name two good artists on my mom's side and the only other ones are my stepfather and real father, who are only good at inanimate things in architecture and in my stepfather's case, chickens. X) I get sick of comments. "NO. I DID NOT GO TO ART CLASS. PLEASE LEAVE ME ALONE."
Anyway, aside from all this rambling, I think the best way is to go away from them if they approach to avoid any loud comments like "WHOA! DUDE! THAT is AMAZING!" which usually brings attention to you and can embarrass you. You can also go into a different room as you display your work, or simply tell them so stay low and not to overreact. That last reason doesn't work, in the case of me and my dad. Also, tell them if they like it, to calmly ask for a drawing in the future, if you're one to do requests for people, like I am.
...I hope I helped, and maybe since you're such a good artist, could you help a bit on my question? You sound like quite the artist...I'm barely older than you, so I'll understand. But I am NOT obligating you to. Promise.
...Did you seriously read all of that?!Dont worry, soon you & the other kids who answerd your question will be grown up & you wont be artists!
I'm super awesome too. Got it from my dad. Don't brag at all to others even if you want to, that will get you hated eventually.
Just let it go. People still fall over themselves when I draw and I take 5 min on an anatomy sketch and thier amazed.
That's just the way it is. Sooner or later they won't be as interested. If you think your not bragging your most likley lieing to yourself or your a teenager.
You have raw talent, don't take it lightly. Just because you can draw something doesn't mean you understand it. Get a scholarship, finish highschool, apply at a great college of the Arts, and develop that talent.

How to illustrate a children's book?
-I'm 15 and my cousin has hired me to illustrate her children's book she's always wanted to make. She will write the story and I will be the illustrator.
I'm not asking how to get my book published, how to draw, or how to write the story. She will be taking care of publishing and writing, and I'm already a good artist.
I'm asking literally how I should illustrate this book. I don't have any fancy digital art stuff, it will be drawn traditionally with colored pencils and watercolor. What size paper? What kind?
I remember way back in Elementary school when an illustrator visited and showed us her work. I remember seeing that you have to have a certain amount of space between the pages, where the pages are binded, and having to leave space for text and stuff like that. How much space should be around the edges? Any good tips and specifics I wouldn't know are very much appreciated! Thank you!!!

Creative picture ideas?
-So I've had the same default on Facebook ( profile picture) for like a month and I need some creative picture ideas? Anything goes, thanks! :)Maybe a reflection of yourself at the pool?
summery and unique?1. Sit in your favorite chair, wearing your favorite shoes, and shoot your feet.
2. Put your camera on the floor, near a wall, facing straight up. Do a handstand against the wall and use your self timer if you have to.
3. Push your face against a window and have a friend get a photo of it from outside.

Is collecting things im attracted to weird?
-Like an unusual coloured leaf or a bird feather, patterned stones and colourful things. I once saw a brown pebble with irredescent gold reflection and I wanted to keep it with me always. I'm the artist type if it means anythingI think this is a completely charming quirk. You never know what is going to inspire you. I like to keep things that capture my interest, and if it makes me seem like a packrat, that's absolutely ok. I think you're 100% fine :)
It is most certainly not weird! It's part of being creative: you notice interesting things. Your description fits very well with what can be called the "artist's eye." So just keep doing what you're doing.
No, it doesn't. Alot of artists collect things from nature to get ideas and create a more lifelike scene.

How much would I have to invest to start a Porn/Cam Site?
-Im a little interested in starting a Porn site. But Im a little worried It might cost way too much. Have any Ideas?Instead of starting your own try to get featured on someone elses . Alot of these sites do things like that or allow you to send them the videos and you'll get recognition and credit for them.
With a porn site ran on your own you'd have to do the marketing , and all sorts of things of that nature.
I'd say 5,000$ would be a good starting place. Reseach this more before you do it
Sure, if your a webmaster. I don't see why you couldn't pull of creating a porn site.
But if you don't know crap about HTML coding, flash and other aspects that are essential with designing a web page, then no, forget it.
I really hope your joking.
but if your not, you have to invest your soul to the devil.
Based on personal experience, its not worth it, lost all my life savings....
Can I work for you when I turn 18???
every penny i have if i get full videos all for free

Can someone tell me what to draw?
-i never know what to draw....i need ideasTry drawing portraits of your friends and family. Or try drawing an object in the room your in. Or try a different form of art. like anime/manga, graffiti, caricatures, cartoon, abstract/design. challenge yourself. i believe the more forms of art you accomplish the better artist you are. Some of those are alot harder than you would think. they really challenged me but it helped.

Why isn' my gel pen working?
-I have a scrapbook kit (a few years ago) that came with a gel pen and i just opened the kit. It worked and stopped but i got it working after a few hours. It stopped working and i can't get it back. I checked it and it stilk has alot of ink. I just need to know why it stopped working and what i have to do about it.im sorry to say this, but your gel pen has probably written its last words :'(
in a few years, the ink in the refill of a gel pen tends to dry up almost completely leaving a few bits of liquid in between. you seem to have hit one of these liquid bits after your valiant efforts, but it really is going to be more trouble than its worth.Sometimes pens tend to clog up at the tip, or if they're left out in open air for too long, they can stop working temporarily.
If you shake it, or even take a test paper and draw the pen on it, it might come back.
Just like what the first person mentioned, sometimes pens just get clogged up or dry up, etc.
Maybe you could try a little water to loosen the ink and make it flow better.

Is it bad to draw only in anime-style?
-I used to draw in an anime-like style, but I often thought that being stuck in that genre of "art" isn't too good for a developing artist.
I mostly draw cartoons now.
What do you think?Yes, and also cartoons aren't that much different from drawing anime (they're literally are pretty much the same thing). You need to try other styles besides your main preference which is pretty much cartoon style. Those are heavily stylized art. You need to learn realism first and then you can practice drawing cartoon style because you'll understand how to actually stylize after instead of making so many mistakes.
im 14 and have been drawing anime for three years, yes its fine and all that but it is even better if you can draw in other styles too.
That way you can broaden horizens and what not ahaaha
but seriously there is always something new to learn in every style just because you can draw in other styles doesn't mean you should just give up on others :)
hope i helped a bit :)
Try drawing academic style too. Styles can be limiting or they can be liberating. Just try to learn how to draw as many ways as you can as well as you can.
Yes, you need to widen your skills and styles. Try many styles and techniques. There really isn't a market for manga/anime artists.
I'm glad you stopped. Not everyone likes that style so its good to widen your skills

Canon 100mm lens help?
-how many feet back would i need to be to capture a full body shot of one person with this lens?I am going to guess a lot more than 15 feet. I can almost get full body shot in my house on a crop sensor with my 50mm and my livingroom is 21 feet wide. I am guessing more like 30 feet. Or more.'
On a full frame sensor 20 feet or so?Well, it depends on if your camera is DX or FX format. I'm going to assume, since you are asking questions on yahoo, that it is a DX. So you would need to stand back a little farther than with an full frame. It also depends on how tall your subject is... lol. I would say that you would need to stand back at least 15ft though. :)

Does anyone know how to make clay out of mud?
-does anyone know how to make clay out of mud??go to a river bank or ditch ,where the earth has been exposed, under the top layer of soil where the grass and plants are growing , dig out from the deeper layers, they will be yellow or reddish, this is the clay layers, I have found good clay there , the classic method is to dry the clay in the sun, Crush and clean the clay of sticks and roots or any foreign objects, then re wet or slake the clay in to a wet slurry and let it sit for a few days to reabsorb the water , then as the water evaporates you will need to wedge the clay to align particles and eliminate the air bubbles, this how the book says to do it, I have found that the clay usually is workable from the digging and only needs some wedging, i have performed this action at summer camps with great success, this is earthen ware grade clay or low fire, it will fire out a light reddish orange we fired little clay animals in a camp fire, i used the thick bark from fallen oak trees to form a quickie kilnBelow are some links with information on digging up local clay and the whole process of preparing the clay to use and fire.
This is not an easy task. It is also extremely time consuming. Commercial clay bodies are made from a variety of clays and other chemicals to produce something that will fire at a particular temperature. Digging your own means you will have to go through testing to discover what temperature you can fire the clay to and if it is indeed workable or if other chemicals will need to be added to make it workable. So most people will buy a commercially made clay.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
If it isn't obvious from the first good answer, you don't make clay from mud
You find clay and dig it up and clean it
Clay is small flat platelets
Mud is round pieces of soil and organic material.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
If it isn't obvious from the first good answer, you don't make clay from mud
You find clay and dig it up and clean it
Clay is small flat platelets
Mud is round pieces of soil and organic material.
Bamboo Fun or Bamboo Pen & Touch?
-I wanted to get one of these but I have no idea which is better. I mainly want to use it for drawing and stuff like that. I'm kind of leaning toward's the Pen & Touch since it's cheaper, but I just want details about them to make sure.My Bamboo Fun came with a free version of Photoshop elements, plus there are downloadable apps from the Fun dock system. If you're buying in the UK, go to Curry's they are heavily discounted right now (or were) When I bought my Bamboo, it was the same price as the Pen and Touch.
I hardly ever use any of the strange features or apps, though.
My suggestion would be to buy a larger version of the Pen and Touch, rather than a small version of the Fun (if you were gunning for a small tablet) as that is where the main benefits lie.Bamboo fun may have more applicable range with softwares,
Bamboo Fun (Pen and Touch) $199.00

Well i don't know about the Pen & Touch, but my dad did buy me a Fun Medium for Christmas this year. I frankly haven't used t all that much. I find it really quite useful and accurate for Photoshop and Illustrator, I would imagine they would both run almost equally. Defiantly recommend getting one.
I love my bamboo fun, I got the small one, but its plenty enough for anything, and it's only 100 bucks!

What are good bases for drawing?
-I draw Warriors (cats), wild cats and dogs, wolves, anthropomorphic animals, and hoomans. (Lulz) I have issues with my art. For example, the head can be a bit oddly shaped on the cats or the legs are too short on the wolves or the humans look...stupid. I know the details and anatomy fairly well by now, but what are good bases to start with? By the way, I have a very specific style, where everything is unrealistically exaggerated. For example, the cats and wolves have legs about as long as their spine, not counting the tail; the tail is almost thicker than the animal itself (they also have thin bodies). They also have large ears and small muzzles, but nonetheless look realistic. The only thing I draw with eyes that are vaguely manga are people. And...according to my step dad, it's a lot like my cousin/friend's art style: dark. I, personally, don't think it's all that dark, but hey, that's just me. :3
A BEST ANSWER WILL BE CHOSEN. No exceptions unless the power goes out or some reasonable excuse like that. But I'll chose one AFTER in that case.
Well...thanks for reading my whole ramble; you can answer now, unless you don't want that free ten points...i like your style :) i tend to drift towards the realistic, correct proportions, kind of drawings. especially horses :) start out with a sketch, my dad taught me that. like the huge ears, make them a lightly sketched Triangle or what ever shape they are, them draw in details like fur, veins and other details you like your ears to have. i don't think your style is dark either. its a little more . . . tim burton. ha, i know, but it seems correct. different and blown up proportions, but realistic in a different way.
as for bases, find inspirations. what happened this weekend? did you see something unique? did something on the news catch your eye? these are all things i look at. i draw animals and the every-so-often person, and it helps. or look at your computer, i tend to look up fairy tales and nature for some of my inspirations :) has something or someone inspired you? draw from that. there are SO many possibilities out there. stay true to what you draw, because someday it could be something your finances depend on! lol!
good luck and keep up the good work :)Hmm.. I'm not sure what you mean by bases, tbh, since you mentioned you know anatomy well by now. It would also help being able to see the art work. But the main thing to do is just practice, and study from live subjects, using photo references especially works. Just remember not to copy the reference, even visual tracing doesn't help you improve much, it's better to study a picture/living animal, to get a better grasp on anatomy (once again, even though you said you know it well) and even studying other artists' works. And remember that you should know the rules before you break them. Drawing sketches of realistic animals (not semi-realistic or stylized) really helps when you need to exaggerate those features. Just practice and study real subjects! I'm not sure if that's what you were looking for, but I hope it helps x3

What is an object that represents this theme?
-I need a visual representation of both evil primal instincts and goodness, civilization. I cant seem to think of anything. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!How about meat being eaten roughly, with hands, in the wild [with blood, bones, skin, etc. strewn around] as compared to a well-laid out table with cutlery, plates, etc.?
Garbage strewn around versus in a garbage bin?
Clothes - barely any or mere animal skin versus a well-suited, sewn fabric dress - this has 2 dimensions : the pelt indicates hunting down an animal [primitive hunter-gatherer lifestyle] & peeling off the skin while a cut & sewn fabric denotes an agricultural lifestyle [cotton, etc.] & processing of material, and being fully covered too.
For something a little abstract :
A huge tome/book that is open but kept face down, thus showing both front & back covers. One cover could be that of any religious text such as the Bible or Koran or Ramayana, etc. while the other cover could be that of Machiavelli , Paradise Lost, or anything related to Satan/devil/evil , or a raging inferno, ...
How about a heart(s) to symbolize good/evil, through it's size, color, clarity, etc. A good person's heart could be big, red, pulsating peacefully, [with a halo if you like] while the evil person's heart has shrunken, is darker & bluer in color, fibrous, ....
Dorian Gray's portrait from Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray".
Or Surrealistic :
The face of a person cut in 2 showing the inner "evil" self & the outer "good" mask/self. eg. this drawing of Marilyn Monroe, except that instead of a robot inside you can show something evil :
http://fantasyartdesign.com/free-wallpap鈥?/a>
Hope these help too :-)
Add : Evil - guns, any arms & ammunition, ... while Good - stethoscope, medical healing, red cross, ....Evil would be something like a person doing an evil thing like plotting to kill another person -- with a mischievous face looking at the other person. Good would be people giving, like a woman giving the man flowers. You can separate these illusions by creating a more colorful scene on the good side.
Try having an black bird and a white bird. The white one being more beautiful than the other.

Does anyone know what font this is?

Which lens for Nikon D90?
-I am renting a lens to shoot a wedding and I cannot decide if I would rather shoot with the Nikon 24-70mm or the Nikon 17-55mm.
I already have the Nikon 70-200mm, as well as the 50mm.24-70mm... Its got the nice zoom and f/2.8 speed + DOF when required...
I dont think a 70-200mm is needed unless its in a large open area or a huge church...
I think the 24-70mm will do the all in one lens trick..
Yes, I also recommend the Nikon 24-70mm

Client editing your photo themselves!?
-Hey, not to long ago I did a shoot for a friend and since then have posted the photos up on facebook. I edited them and I sign my first initial and last name in the lower right hand corner. It's small because I know how obnoxious huge logos can be. I noticed later that the person has made the photo their profile pic but has cropped the photo so my name is no longer on it. It's not just the removal of my name that bothers me but also the image quality goes down with further cropping and it's not cropped in the best way.
What do you guys suggest I do?If you gave them the disk, you shouldn't do anything about it.
Even if you have a contract that states "no editing," your only course of action is to send them a cease and desist letter followed by an expensive lawsuit.
Suing your clients is really not going to help you to build a business. If you don't want people editing your photos, do not send the photos to them in the first place.

Any yaoi with good art?
-I really like Mishima Kazuhiko's art style, Lover's Doll, Love Neco etc. I've read most of her work and I was wondering if there were any more yaoi out there with those kind of drawings. Thank you : )Here's the list of my favorite yaoi manga authors! They all have beautiful drawings!

I'm in love with anime guys, help!?
-I'm 14 and I've only ever watched two animes in my life (shugo chara and tokyo mew mew)
yet in each one, ive developed a really strong crush, even love on one of the charactors. I still have intrest in real guys, but im kinda nerdy so guys at my school dont take intrest in me. I've never had a boyfriend and im a total romantic, but latley these crushes have been bothering me. Also its not cos im in love with the 'perfect guy' in anime, as i found myself falling in love with Kisshu from Tokyo Mew Mew, and hes got loads of flaws. Am i normal? What can i do to get over these crushes? Please, no harsh comments telling me to get a life or telling me to stop watching anime. Please helpThis is totally normal! Why do they bother you? Just enjoy the feeling of love you have, it's a good feeling isn't it?
You don't need a 'real' boyfriend. What are the things you love about these characters? What flaws do they have? Do you have these flaws yourself? How do you feel about them? Explore why you love these characters, and you may learn something about yourself! <3
I can understand how it feels to have a crush on a fictional character, when I was 6 or 7 I had a crush on Sora from Digimon, silly huh but I got over it and you will too everyone has had feelings for at least one fictional character it's kinda natural.
You're 14. You don't know what love is, and honestly, having a crush on a fictional character is really stupid. You are fourteen. You don't need a boyfriend, what you need is to get a life. You are too young to be dating and there is zero chance you'd ever be able to date a fictional character.
Grow up.
I would say at your age these crushes are quite normal... It would be bad if they persist after you're an adult though. I think looking for a boyfriend in real life could help you get over these anime characters, or even having other sorts of distractions like going out with friends, pursuing your hobbies. Good luck!
hehe you have a crush :)
i doubt you know what love is .. only way to get over a "more serious" crush is to get a different one :P
in your case a real-life alternative ;)
Ok for a 14 year old girl this is definitely not normal. Maybe if you 4-8 but you have get with reality its a CARTOON! I'd say you really need to make some guy friends. or get a boyfriend. I saw you say, Please, no harsh comments telling me to get a life or telling me to stop watching anime, but I'm going to advise you to stop watching it or at-least Tokyo mew mew; Not for a long time just for a little while. Aren't there any celebrities out there that you like or a attracted to? If you keep down a path like this where u find cartoon characters hot it will really damage your social life, because people will think your weird, crazy, etc. Trust me I've known people like that and life doesn't go so well for them as they get older. If I were you i would nip it in the bud right now and just say hey its a cartoon character; Ink and paper, and not real.
@ Dusty Day Dreams- Word up
okay, stop and breathe
you're young and you probably love the qualities that these anime guys have and you should look in them in real men. But you have to realize that these are factual men. Your in middle school so a lot of the guys are to too obsessed with themselves or trying to define that they are the biggest baddest guy out there dating the winning cheerleader. They are mostly into arm candy.
I would suggest stop watching the anime or tell yourself that these men are not real so you shouldn't be developing an emotional connection.
You're going through a lot of changes, and are on an emotional roller coaster. I am sure you will grow out of it.
Plus you don't want to end up like this guy:

Why be represented by an agency as a photographer?
-what are the benefits of being represented as opposed to going freelance?Freelance photography and agency representation are not either or.
In fact you have to be a freelance photographer to be represented by an agent. An agent can't legally represent a photographer who is employed by someone else.
An agent can help a photographer get work. However, they are less common than they used to be. In the past an agent would look at physical portfolios and then work with buyers who were looking for a certain style. Today, a buyer can easily look at a photographer's website, and know right away if they want to hire them without going through an agent.
I still use an agency (Getty) for my stock sale.
An advertising photographer needs a rep, they will represent several photographers with different specialities, fashion, still life, cars, food, people ,to name a few. the rep will quote, organise and be there during the shoot to keep the client happy, he or she will charge around 20-25% of the photo fee, that's not much when you bear in mind how much time it saves you and that they know all the art buyers in every ad agency , something that on your own would never be possible.
A rep will get you business. And may do some of the other business side for you. They may also be a waste of your money.
If you aren't any good, a rep isn't going to do you any good.
Times are very hard, and many photographers are quitting and getting a different job. Mowing lawns is a much lucrative profession in my area. Or cleaning pools, or washing windows. Seriously!
Way too many in the field, and too few customers who are willing to pay decently. And, why should they? Good photographers are undercutting each other right a left, just to pay some bills. Very few are making enough to feed a family. Even those who've been at it for decades.
Photography is fun, and can make you some money, but there are far better jobs out there right now.
its easier to get work and you know you have work unless your fired or let go. also you dont have the expense of advertising. but freelance you get to do your own name and people will get to know you, not the representative.

Digital or physical books?
-I got a kindle for a gift and have an iPad but Ii still am not a fan of digital books. I much prefer a nice paperback or hardcover. Do you think I should just convert? Also which do you prefer, real or digital?I love paper books and usually have several out from the library beside the shelves of ones I own, but just recently I got an iPhone and have been reading Audiobooks from the library (none bought yet) and working on eBooks. eBooks can be read out loud on any Apple device using VoiceOver which is intended for the blind (like my wife) but will read from page to page of a ebook that otherwise has to to be advanced page by page.
As I discovered quickly, having a book in your pocket for reading aloud while riding the bus, driving a car or working with your hands in the kitchen or around the house, is really neat.
For reading text, I don't think I will get any of the devices that must be held up.
And I love libraries and book stores because I like seeing what is next to a book that I started out to find - some program guessing which book I might also like is not the same.
Real! Nothing beats the feeling and smell of a new book. I don't think i'd ever convert to a Kindle. :/

Are the weasleys elated to the black family in harry potter if so how?
-All pure-blood families are related to each other in some way.
Arthur Weasley's father, Septimus Weasley, married into the Black family. His wife, Cedrella Black was disowned by her family since the Weasleys are "blood traitors" for associating with non-pure bloods and Muggles. All pure-blood families are related to each other in some way.

EDIT: Got my facts a bit wrong, fixed.
Sirius is Arthur's second cousin, once removed - I think.
Not in any way.

Can someone give me advice about cameras?
-I would like to buy a good quality professional camera to take artistic photos for art and things like that. I don't want to spend a lot of money on a camera but i would pay for good quality. I don't want to buy a camera that you have to buy all the different lenses for it, i would just like something easy to use that takes professional photos. i would like it to have good focus, zoom, and quite a fast shutter speed. Other than that i don't have much knowledge on cameras and i would really appreciate it if you could recommend so cameras to me. Thank you xxThere are three classes of consumer digital camera. The Compact, bridge and digital SLR. The slr is the most advanced and offers the best quality and performance. However, many many people see that claim and prematurely buy the most expensive modle they can find, only to be dissapointed when they realize there is a relativly expansive knowledge base required to operate a digital SLR camera.
The common camera you see are of the compact variety. These offer conveniance in everyway. They are offten refered to as "point and shoot" cameras because that is the utility they offer. They permitt the user to simply aim and fire with no other complications.
A bridge camera is a mix between the two. They offer control over exsposure, advanced features and highER picture quality along with a small biuld and user friendly operation. This is the one I sugest would be best for you.
Features such as zoom, focus and shutter speed are more complicated issues that no camera itself can offer any gaurentees on. That said, most bridge cameras are biult with your requests in mind and should offer functionality to your liking.
modles of bridge cameras are the Fuji S cameras and Nikon P cameras such as the S1500 and P100.

Do I have to ink my artwork?
-I've decided to make my drawing more seriously but I'm wondering if it's essential that I learn how to ink I'm more comfortable using a pen than a brush. Can't I fine-line instead? It's essential that you learn all the basics and the tricks so that you can draw "more seriously".
Inking adds depth to the artwork. Also, use a pen if you're more comfortable with it.... Does anyone ink with a brush? I know some people who use marker brushes, but most people just use plain pens. I prefer writing pens, but people will also go with fine tipped felt ones. Depending on the type of art work you do inking it with fine lines works, if you're more into cartoon like images just increase your pen size and you'll be fine with the thicker lines.
Have fun

Where can art take me?
-I am going to college in september, i am going to study Fine Art.
And i was wondering where it would take me.
I know what you will probably say, why did you go into it with no outlook on what it will do with your future.
To answer your question, i chose to study Fine Art because its something i am good at, i know it cant take me very far in life, but i really enjoy it, and your supposed to do what you enjoy right?
So, where can art take me?art can take you so many places, you illustrate for books, design anything from lables in magazines to websites to splash pages, you can do portraits, draw manga, teach, the list is endless, you can google millions of options for artists, i myself am an artist so i know how many different things we can do. its a wonderful hobby, but its hard work and lots of patience and dedication.

Help me with a drawing please?
-I really need help with a drawing that I just can't seem to finish. :c It's a guy sitting cross legged and it's a difficult position to interpret... I don't even have a mirror to sit in front of to help me, even if I could do that, it might not even help. D| To top it off, I can't even put it away to finish later(til I get better at drawing), it needs to be done for tomorrow night. ;_;
So here's the link to it: http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/鈥?/a>
Drawing over it and sending it back would be super nice... :3
It's his left leg(knee)... I just... I caaan't, I dunno how to draw it! D': -sniffles-http://www.worldofstock.com/slides/PED2177.jpg this image is of a real person sitting in exact same postition, copy it. :)
Proportions need a lot of work. Needs shading. Looks bland.

Is this the average architectural program?
-I am asking this on behalf of my younger sister, who is entering her second year of of the architectural program at the local state university.
My sister went into her first year expecting to work hard, work fast, and work late in the studio often. However, this year the studio professor has the entire class staying at the studio until 2-4am (or later) EVERY night (and weekends) in order to complete the assignments he has given them. Plus, constantly, he is changing his assignment and saying "Oh, I meant to tell you this" or "No, I wanted you to do that." This makes the entire class have to change their projects midstream. He occasionally holds class on Saturdays and sometimes even dismisses class because "I meant to tell you, you need to to buy a used four stroke engine for this assignment" (for example) "go out and find one from a junk yard." He even suggests to the class from time to time to have alcohol to calm their nerves (note, this is a class with minors mixed in it).
She has been told that this is the normal pace which they will work for the next four years along with her normal course studies. She is Phi Theta Kappa and was (and is) prepared to work hard, but she can't even see straight right now and is very, very, very stressed and has us worried. Is this normal? Working to 4am everyday, changing assignments mid-stream, etc, etc. If it is, to what end?! This is just ridiculous. Is this just a bad program at this school or...I don't know. I'm just worried because she is so unhappy and saying that she doesn't know what to do. She's wanted this for SO MANY YEARS, I'd hate to see her burn out so soon. Is this only a "first year initiation" sort of deal? My major is no where near this, so I'm clueless about this stuff and am not sure what to tell her.
Thanks so much for your help. I appreciate it.The four stoke engine seems a little weird, but my son just complete the program at Ball State.
It was normal for him to be in studio until the wee hours of the morning and on weekends.
Architectural programs are demanding. Very few make the cut. I wish your sister the best of luck /

Can I paint acrylic over a coffee wash?
-I mean, I know I can, but...
Does it may occur a problem after some time? or the quality of the coffee wash can be ruined if I use acrylic varnish?you mention acrylic paint, then acrylic varnish, one is for painting as in colors, then other as a sealer,
Coffee or tea painting is like water color done on water color paper,
example:
http://coffee-painting.deviantart.com/
if you you are only going to seal coffee wash use other fixative for water colors
if you are adding acrylics as color mixed media with wash , you can , thats up to you,
the acrylic varnish may dissolve coffee stains much the same as acrylics could dissolve water colors if layered as sealer coat, you could try spray in thin layer, but then you may be better to use water colour sealer anyways,
For what you want to do, test on spare paper and seal or apply acrylics as you planned,

..i know this isnt really an answer but more of a question, but i couldnt help it!! A coffee wash? I have never heard of anyone doing that.. did you just pour some coffee on a canvas? I know this doesnt help, but ive done tons of paintings, but never thought of doing a coffee wash. What does it look like?
wow thanks a ton thats awesome :) defiantly going to try it sometime

How to get into the gaming industry as an artist?
-I'm good at any kind of art, can do any kind of style. Been drawing whole life. No qualifications. How do I get into the gaming industry. It must be possible, if you have the skills?
Also... I love games, any platform. X-Box, Playstation, Nintendo, PC, you name it.
I'm working on an illustrated book right now. Do you think i'd have a better chance if I was published? Or is it never too soon to start trying?Yes it is possible, you maybe need some experiencing in Photoshop, illustrator, coral draw and other programs similar.
And if you ever go on an interview or something, you will need to provide a portfolio or some of your sketches, drawings of characters, scenery and even some work with using textiles.
Also you may need to provide artwork done on the programs too. The work has to be very consistent too, also be experimental and try to go over the limit too with your artworks.
I'm not sure you will have to have qualifications or not, but you might need an A level in at least two subjects relating to art and design.
You might also need a Foundation Degree, too, which is a very easy course to be honest.
Or you might need a degree too.

How would I go about drawing this? on a computer?
-Alright, so I'm drawing a t shirt design on the computer, and I have to draw this one part which is gold thread with red thread. I can't get a good gold color, and I have no clue how I can draw thread. Any suggestions? thanks.

I need some answers about my liquid latex mask making any help is appreciated.?
-1st question- if i use liquid latex to make a halloween mask and i sprinkle baby powder on it afterward could i wash the powder off and would it be sticky afterward without the baby powder or is it a one time thing.
2nd question i bought liquid latex from maximum impact will i be able to use it to make halloween masks like is it safe to use on the face.
3rd question if someone licked the latex mask by accident would it harm that person or is it harmless after it dries.
Thats about all the questions i have for now please anyone answer them for me.1. I believe the baby powder works its way in and will not be washed off and leave the mask sticky, but although I have used latex for molds and for theater makeup, I don't recall testing this. You can do a simple test by painting up a few layers in a small area, letting it completely set, peeling it off and doing the baby powder and washing and see what happens
2. For most people, latex is safe to use on skin. I have used it as the basis of beards and mustaches built directly on the faces of college students and for effects on my face. But some people are allergic to latex such as in bandages and usually they will know it. If you haven't done so, paint a small area of your skin with a couple of layers and let it set then note if you itch or turn very red in the area. Peel it off. There may be some red from adhesion, but if it is angry red or puffy, don't go further and have a doctor check.
3. Licking cured latex should not cause any problems for most people. Even someone with allergy is likely to be protected by saliva. You can check further on line for latex allergies.

How would you define ART?
-What attributes are the most important that will make any "art object" into an ART OBJECT?Wiki can explain it more deliberately than most. Enhance your senses and read this site. Even some bad art is still considered art...it's in the eye of the viewer.

"Art is the product or process of deliberately arranging items (often with symbolic significance) in a way that influences and affects one or more of the senses, emotions, and intellect. It encompasses a diverse range of human activities, creations, and modes of expression, including music, literature, film, photography, sculpture, and paintings. The meaning of art is explored in a branch of philosophy known as aesthetics, and even disciplines such as history and psychology analyze its relationship with humans and generations.
Traditionally, the term art was used to refer to any skill or mastery. This conception changed during the Romantic period, when art came to be seen as "a special faculty of the human mind to be classified with religion and science".[1] Generally, art is made with the intention of stimulating thoughts and emotions."
anything that someone CREATES with its own hands can be considered Art

Need some input on my photography...?
-So I have been working with my DSLR for around 6 months now, I feel i've grown at least a little and my photos are better... Here's my Flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/54745657@N0鈥?/a> Constructive criticism is encouraged!
Also, a lot of people have tags or watermarks on their photos (soandso's photography) is this necessary?I have looked at the EXIF data of your images and I can see that you are simply shooting in Auto modes (portrait mode to be precise.) Can I ask why you have spent the money on a camera like this only to use it as a cheap point and shoot? You had may as well just sell it and buy a small compact P&S camera because you are not using that DSLR what is was designed for, taking control of the image and exposure!
From this moment on you will stay the OTHER side of the green box and learn how to use the manual settings! (you have been told!) You say you have grown a little with your DSLR but how could you have possibly grown when you are using the camera on fully auto and letting it do all the work! Start off with aperture priority, practice and learn how adjusting the aperture affects the image and the DOF. Here is a guide you should read..

And if I'm being honest, you need a lot of work on your composition..

You don't need to watermark your images.

Additional:
"I have tried to use both apperature and shutter priority but it never seems to come out right" - Practice, practice, practice!.. The more time you spend in manual modes the quicker you will learn.
"but when the dogs are moving so fast" - Use shutter priority.
"and the lighting is changing so fast" - Aperture Priority (plus watch your WB)
"As well as with my longer zoom lens it tends to be even more difficult because there isn't much room to work with when the lighting gets crappy" - This is when you learn the limitations of your lenses. Investing in a faster lens or scrapping zoom lenses altogether and buying primes may be your solution. Again, practice will help here and once you learn how to control exposure yourself you will understand why that photo did not turn out and what you can do to remedy it. Also think about what lighting you are using? Perhaps an external flash may be worth investing in?
WB should not be set "just once" and then left! Where on Earth did you read that? I suggest you you read this link about WB and an 18% grey card..
http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Revie鈥?/a>
A sheet of blank A4 paper also does a good job when setting manual WB. Getting the WB correct is very important. It can be difficult to get the WB correct when outside because of the changing weather conditions (the sun going behind a cloud will make a difference, as will shooting in the shade etc.) When I am shooting outside I will shoot RAW with auto WB and then alter the WB in post processing later using Lightroom if necessary.

I agree with you about using flash, I try to always avoid it and would rather use a faster lens. If however it is necessary, even if it is just a fill flash for sunny days (which often can not be avoided, especially for doing any kind of portrait work) then I would use a diffuser on the flash. This will bounce the light, soften it and prevent any harsh shadows. Again if your WB is set without flash and then you use it then it will be significantly affected. If you want a very cheap and pretty effective diffuser for your pop up flash then put a piece of tissue over the flash and see how harsh shadows are reduced.
As for useful focal lengths for primes? Well it depends on what you are shooting. You will also have to take into account the crop factor on your cameras sensor. I consider a 28mm, 50mm, 85mm and 135mm prime lenses common and useful focal lengths. If you are into sports or wildlife then consider 200mm upwards. I collect and use old M42 prime lenses and have used them on my Canon DSLR when I owned one (and I am now looking to purchase again.) With a simple adapter widely available on eBay you can purchase some wonderful manual focus M42 mount lenses very cheaply. I picked up a 300mm f/4 SMC Takumar in a charity store for 拢12 recently and today I picked up a 135mm f/3.5 Carl Zeiss for only 拢2. With the adapter fitted to your XTI you can use these lenses (manual focus only and you will need to set the aperture on the lens yourself, this will also help you learn) and they will focus to infinity.
Google 'M42 to Canon' for more info.
.Part of what makes a great photo is the timing, angle, subgect, etc. But another part of what seperates one photographer from another is his or her technical skill. If you shoot everything on portrait scene mode, there is nothing that seperates you. In fact I can't say you've really learned much except for muscle memory from pushing buttons. My constructive criticism would be to take the time to make the pictures yours, and not the camera's.
And no, watermarks are not useful. All they do is show that people don't know Flickr has an expressed copyright. And in many other situations you are protected by implied copyrights. The chance of being ripped off in any way that would cause any legally valid damages is very, very slim. A whole movement in art (postmoderism) fully acknoledges that everything is just a copy of something else.
Hello! Your photography is great for a beginner. I would focus on getting a new lens with a lower aperture next. I use a 50 mm 1.8 and a 35mm 1.8. The lens that it comes with is not very good and you will not be able to improve your photography with that lens. After you purchase a new lens I would learn manual. A great book called understanding exposure is how I learned about manual. Using manual instead of auto will improve your photos by 100 percent!
As for tags, they can help people find your photos on flickr. And watermarks are necessary if you do not want people stealing your photos. Here is my flickr - http://www.flickr.com/photos/uremyraincloud/
Standard looking snapshots of dogs. White balance is off in quite a few (notice the yellow color tint in this photo for example:http://www.flickr.com/photos/54745657@N0鈥?/a> and several have exposure problems (mainly underexposure). In most of your shots you also have your subject directly in the middle of the frame, which is a no-no in terms of composition.
According to the EXIF information embedded in your photos, you shoot with your camera on auto white balance and auto exposure. That is a complete waste for a DSLR. Learn how to properly control exposure by shooting on manual (this will get rid of your underexposure problem). If you are not adjusting white balance somehow in post production, learn how to use the custom white balance function on your camera so your colors are more consistent.
If you are having trouble figuring out how to use your camera off the auto modes, purchase and carefully read a book called "Understanding Exposure."
The best thing to do is learn from others. It's not the camera, it's the photographer. Many want to be pro's say you need a better lens, well it turns out I got to National Geographic, when I was only 13.. With crap equipment. Check my stuff out and see what I do different. Contact me on the Contact page, and i'll gife you some more info. Take care. Peace

-How is this a couple kissing? All I see is a old man http://departments.jordandistrict.org/cu鈥?/a>The old man's hair is like a ring of plants that they are kissing in. The man is on the left wearing a Robin Hood type hat. The woman is on the right with her arm up. The old man's eyes are their hair and the lips are the man's arm and part of the woman's body.
Hope that helps. It's two old men kissing... weird.

SAI Paint tool help please?
-When I use SAI paint tool with my graphic's tablet (Trust Wide Screen Design Tablet TB-7300) it keeps jumping and stops working so i have to tap it a couple of times to get it to work again. also if I minamise sai it stops the tablet to work.
I brought the tablet new about 2 weeks ago and is working fine on everything else apart from sai so I just think that sai doesn't like my tablet.
Its starting to annoy me now :3

Is using ladies nylons comparable to a 350ct mesh for silkscreening?
-I need to print something that requires a thread count somewhere between 300-350. Most pre-made screens with that fine of thread count are out of my price range considering how many i need. I'd like to make them myself but I was wondering if there was some type of material i could use for the mesh other than what major websites offer. A few friends suggested womens' pantyhose- has anyone done anything like this before? I'm printing onto metal, a space approximately 2 x 5 inches. Thanks!Pantihose stretch and I don't think the results will be even if you prestretch. If the cost is too high for that small a region how can you afford the ink and frames?
How can I get AutoCAD to draw to scale?
-I can't remember if I can do this or not. I have measurements in feet and inches, but to draw it on AutoCAD I want to to be scaled down to something like 1/8"=1'-0". So if I have a measurement of 24'-2" I don't want to see a line that goes off the page but scaled down. I took a basic drafting class a while back but I can't remember if what I want to do is possible. Any help?24'-2" of line when plotted to your given scale is only about 3'' on paper. You can test print it in MODEL space by directly selecting 1/8" = 1'-0" from the scale list in Plot Scale group, Page Setup dialog. Just make sure "inches" is selected. The plot computation is as follows:
24'-2" = 290" ; the scale 1/8" = 12"
so, 290 梅 12 脳 1/8 = 3.02" plotted length. Check it with a ruler.

Need suggestions for a good DSLR for wildlife photography?
-i hunt birds mostly and when the freezer gets filled up, i still want to go hunting. im not going to kill more than i can eat, so i figured i would just shoot them....(is camera humor embraced here?) i will be photographing mostly pheasants, quail, ducks and geese. in flight and on the ground/water.
so i figure these are my needs.
something with no trigger delay.
something that handles motion really well. those birds are fast.
and something even an idiot could use. because i am your garden variety idiot when it comes to cameras.
Also what power lense would you suggest? most pictures would be taken between 5 and 30 yards with an expansive open background. either water, sky or grasslands. the best opportunities occur at dawn and dusk when the light is low, what considerations do i take into account for low light?
i know i am asking too much here, but can i find something that will fit my needs for around 300 bucks? even used? All cameras have a shutter delay though it's a lot less on a DSLR than it is on a compact.
Birds in flight are always a problem, auto focus, even the fastest, does not always get it right, it's just a likely to focus on the background as the bird, and whilst it's focusing it won't let the shutter release (by default) so the bird has passed before the shutter trips (with or without burst fire), you'll get a lot of images of birds backsides LOL.
The maximum aperture of the lens (lowest f number) becomes important when there's not much light because if the camera can't see the edges clearly it can't focus on them quickly, so wide aperture long lenses are what you need which will cost you more than your camera, 3 or 4 times more than your budget even second hand!
You can use manual focus and preset the focus on the lens, but then you need to know how far away the birds are going to be, and/or you can use a smaller aperture to get more depth of field (look it up), but then shutter times will be slower which means camera shake and subject movement becomes a problem. Longer focal length lenses also magnify camera and subject movement, round and around it goes. These are the compromises a photographer is working out in their head before they even get the camera out of the bag, photography is often all about compromises, there's more to it than meets the eye, even photographers who have all the gear and practised will only get a 20% success rate at best.
ChrisThe DSLR is not what is most important for wildlife photography, it is the lens.
The lens that comes with the camera has far too little of a magnification for the bird to be framed well in the photo.
For 300 bucks your not even going to be able to get an entry-level one anyway, they start at 500+$.
I heard something about digiscoping though, not sure if its a cheaper alternative but it looks interesting.
Go to your local photography store and ask them to show you what they have. To give you a good recommendation, I'd need to ask you some more questions. The local camera store guy will ask those questions.
Don't think yo can get advice and service at the Target/Best Buy/Wal-mart/etc stores. The vast majority of their employees don't know an f-stop from a truck stop.
You wnat a DSLR, but have the money for a point and shoot. You have enough money for a basic DSLR, but no lens, or a basic Lens, but not both.
No difference in price between a "digital" lens and a film lens. The camera bodies are slightly cheaper for a film one, but you will spend more money long run on film and processing.
Humor, thumbs up. You get bonus points for actually being a hunter who shoots birds.
You are not asking too much. Thumbs up again. It is very refreshing for someone to know exactly what they need.
The camera.
Your budget just wont cut it.
For your uses, minus the budget, id suggest
canon 7d (1600 dollars)
300mm f/2.8 + 1.4 extender (5000 + 300)
the 7d has a high burst rate. You dont want to wait for the camera to get ready while you miss your shot.
The 300mm gets you distance. The extender adds to that distance
the f/2.8 will help you in low light.
An alternative will be the sigma 150-500mm
but that is optically poorer and will be difficult to use in low light. You may have to depend on manual prefocusing.
Also get a good sturdy tripod. Leading manuturers include
gitzo
manfrotto
really right stuff

Is this a good picture and editing??:)?
-http://www.flickr.com/photos/62643298@N0鈥?/a>in professional terms its a decent picture.
it would look better if you could see the bottom of the left tractor, and some contrast to brighten the grass and color of the tractor.
Yes it looks very good to me, however I think blurring the background a bit may add to it
Yeah! That's really good! :]

DSLR blurred picture disaster. need help.?
-hi, i have my canon 500d (18-200mm kit) for over 2 years now and so far it has done me well. however, lately i have noticed that especially in indoor condition eg. ballroom or lecture halls, the pictures that i took are not as sharp as they should be.
i take pictures of events and programs a lot and i have my handy speed lite (430EXII) with me all the time. before this the pictures were sharp and not flat (just what you might expect from a DSLR) however nowadays it isn't anymore. they look flat just like pictures taken with an ordinary cameras. i tried using a different lens (canon 50mm 1.8) and the pictures are also not as sharp.
please if anyone have any idea what might be the problem and the solutions for it i appreciate anyone who'd share his experience. thanks in advance. It can be 3 things
1) You are getting used to your picture quality...
Sol -> Leave your DSLR home and use a p&s camera..then compare the quality after 5-10 days..
2) Your camera image sensor is going gaga...
Sol -> 1st check how your camera performs in full daylight, evenings, without flash at low & high ISO
If the pic quality seems to be affected still then u need to hit a repair shop for some servicing work..
3) Maybe u changed some 'unknown setting' in your camera...
Sol -> See what happend with me..I use a Nikon though... I always click in Vivid color with 'shade' to give a warm red tone but one fine day some idiot changed my settings to Neutral... So after an event of around 50 something excellent pics, i see the pics are flat... i later realized what had happened...
There is a 'Reset option' somewhere hidden.. I am sorry idk where it is for your camera, but kenrockwell knows -- http://www.kenrockwell.com/canon/rebel-t鈥?/a> .. So do it...You might be using too wide an aperture. You need to remember that wider apertures will cause shallow depth of field, and if you are not focussing on someone's eyes for example, the image is going to look out of focus. There is a great temptation when working indoors to open up that aperture to try and get more light, but it's not always the best thing to do. Conversely, small apertures in excess of f16 can cause diffraction and loss of clarity in shots - unlikely to be a problem in indoor shots, but it can have a noticeable effect in landscapes. Then there is the problem of motion blur/camera shake. Even with a flash you may need to consider using a tripod. If you are shooting formal shots, you may need to ask people to stand still if there is a lack of light.
i take pictures of events and programs a lot and i have my handy speed lite (430EXII) with me all the time. before this the pictures were sharp and not flat (just what you might expect from a DSLR) however nowadays it isn't anymore. they look flat just like pictures taken with an ordinary cameras. i tried using a different lens (canon 50mm 1.8) and the pictures are also not as sharp.

Aperture question on DSLR?
-I enjoy using depth of field manly so I constantly keep my aperture as low as it can go (I have a standard lens so 5.6 usually).
Does this mean I am a less skilled photographer?depends...
is that all you know how to use on your camera or is that what you enjoy most.
a skilled photographer knows how to use all the functions on his camera, but it is perfectly ok if you know all the functions but like that one over the rest. every photographer has a certain fell to photos they like and that can most certainly be one.... just make sure you know all the functions other than that too.
Don't worry so do I have a look at this aperture lesson http://www.mccordall.com/photography/ it's a video I've just made, and you won't be wasting 8 minutes of you life , being able to manage short depth of field is the key to great shots, by the way 5,6 is pretty normal realy most pro prime lenses will open up to f1.8 or f2.8 depending on the focal length very long lenses will be a bit higher.
Everyone is less skilled than some and more skilled than others. All it really means you have not yet bought a faster lens. For most brands there's a good and affordable 50mm f1.8, might want to consider that.
I would say, to an technical aspect, that yes, you may be a less skilled photographer.
A skilled photographer knows how to use his camera's full functions.
hahaha... I've been using f1.8 to f2.8.. tell me if I am less skilled.. here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ilbaltazar/
Yes, because you don't understand that there a lot of situations where a higher f-number is necessary.
The fact that your question makes no sense indicates that you are less skilled.

How do i set up and use a home-made darkroom?
-alright, im 16 years old, but im really getting into photography. i don't so much plan to be a professional, i however really want to work experimentally with film and development. Digital isn't my thing. what im trying to find out is how to set up my own temporary darkroom in my house bathroom or something. ive gotten all sorts of books from the library about the subject and none of them helped me because i have no knowledge of the development process. what do i need, how do i learn, and does anybody have any book suggestions on this topic? any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. As the other responder said, all you need for developing is a changing bag and a developing tank with reel (Paterson Super System 4 is a good brand to buy). Once you load the film into the tank in the changing bag, you can do the rest of the process in the daylight.
The process for developing is simple: all you need in addition to the tank is a developer (Kodak D-76 is what I use), a fixer (Kodafix Solution is what I use), water, a thermometer, and a timer. Once your developer reaches the proper temperature, pour it into the loaded tank (don't take the inner lid off or you will ruin the film). Start your timer and develop for the time indicated on on your film's data sheet (you can find it online), agitating the tank every 30 seconds or so. Once the time is up, pour your developer out and pour water in. Agitate for 30 seconds, and then pour the water out. Next, pour the fixer in and let the film fix for the time requred, agitating again every 30 seconds. After that, you can take the inner lid off of the tank, and wash your film in cool running water for about 15-20 minutes. Once that is done, you can hang your film up to dry.
If you would like to do contact printing or enlarging, you can do what I do to set up a darkroom: I go into a small windowless room, and tape the door up with two heavy-duty trash bags (3 mil or thicker), using gaffer's tape to cover up the edges. Turn the lights off for about three minutes, and if you still can't see any light leaking or your hands in front of your face, you are good. While you can work in the dark, it will be better if you use a safelight for developing paper (you can NOT use a safelight for developing film, as it will ruin the film). I use a red LED safelight from Cyron Lighting, and it doesn't affect the paper even after half an hour under the light.
Good luck!

My Handwritten signature looks quite plain and also changes every time I sign something (more below)?
-How can I make it more consistent?
How can I make it harder to forge?
(I have a bad natural handwriting..)

Shall I go to collage if I want to be a graphic designer or not?
-I want to be a graphic designer or web designer but I'm not sure if I have to go collage or uni and what sort or qualifications I need, and what courses I need to doFirst, it's "college." If you can't even spell it, then you probably shouldn't go.
Second, it would be in your best interest to get a degree in your field. Even in art fields, having a degree will benefit you in the long run since you will learn more about the field and techniques that will help you. Look into art schools that offer graphic design or web design as a major. Are you a high school student? if you are, there are a lot of resources available to you at your school like your art teachers and your guidance counselor.
you should to.. cuz if you will then in future you will have a degree, n have better job n career!
yes - but considering you can't even spell "college" i'm not sure you are ready for it

Unique photoshoot ideas?
-What are some unique ideas for a photoshoot?
Give ne a good site to look at poses? I want to look like a modelI always like something different! Lots of colors that contrast and things people haven't seen before.
You should look into Nike high heel sneakers lol they are sooo cool! (Here is a picture of them : http://www.google.com/imgres?q=nike+high鈥?/a> Sorry about the length of link!
Always have good lighting!
Don't be afraid to show your inner child either, like do a huge bow on your head....LOL.
Don't feel like a picture is stupid and not take it. You can always erase it.
Get a good Photoshop person, sometimes you might have a great picture and there could be a small problem that could be fixed easily on Photoshop. I do Photoshop, I'm good at touching up photos! :) However I'm not amazing!
Good luck!
the best thing to do is look in magazines and imitate the poses you like....

Anyone have any ideas? You could use mouth wash or nail polish remover... Obviously dont drink it! They come in greens and blues and pinks and purples. Or could just get some food colouring? Its generally quite cheap less than a pound usuallyWhisky,it tastes vile but has a wonderful colouring.. I made a drink me bottle with one of those miniture whisky bottles..remove the labeling, add a ribbon with a pretty tag on it :)

Is there a way to change a picture to all white?
-im trying to change black and white pictures to just straight white because i cant seem to color the black parts on gimp. so i was just wondering is there a way to change the picture to just straight whiteDon't be silly, if you change a black and white pic to just white, there will be nothing there!!!!
You can colour a black and white image in GIMP. First make sure your image is in RGB colour mode. Click Image > Mode > RGB
Click Colours > Colourise, move the sliders until you get the effect you want.
Or . . .
If you just want to change the blacks to a colour, choose a new foreground colour, use the select by colour tool, set the threshold in the tool options dialog to about 50. click on a black area of the image, then click Edit > fill with FG colour.
Or . .
Another way to add false colour to a black and white image is to use Colours > Curves. Change the channel value to a colour channel, and experiment with different curves - clicking and dragging the lowest point on the graph at the bottom left will change the blacks, change to another colour channel, and experiment with another curve - the results can be quite trippy!

Why is my henna (mehndi) coming out so light?
-So the other day I used some mehndi my friend got me from India, and it worked really well on my palm (very dark and visible.) However, when I paused for about ten minutes and went back to do my forearm, the design came out considerably lighter, even though I was using the same tube and left it on for the same amount of time! What can I do in the future to avoid this? Thanks in advance. All things being equal, henna will never stain your forearms as darkly as it will your palms. Here's a map showing how henna stains the body. Henna sinks about halfway through your upper layer of skin, never further. So the thicker that layer is, the darker the stain because there's more room for henna. Feet and hands stain very darkly, thin skin like faces and necks stain lightly and fade in a day or three. You didnt leave it on long enough
How to get someone to pose nude?
-I want to get into nude photography.I think there is nothing more beautiful than the human body, but i don't know who to ask.I am single at the moment and don't think my girl friends want to do something like that. i would like to make a website with classy nude photos of women, NOT PORN. I was thinking i would go to a nude resort and ask around or put up flyers.my friend (also armature nude photographer) needed a nude model for school and just asked some girl he never met before and she agreed.... after she wrote up some papers and had him sign them and he did the same. do you think that could work? there are some really beautiful women in my area who run along lake Michigan (i live in Chicago). if you like in the Chicago area and want to pose nude please email me??? idk thanks for any answers.I am a professional photographer and have used models but not for nude work. If I were to do this, I would go on Model Mayhem where people generally give their time on a time for CD basis. There are models on there wanting experience of nude work and its free to use although upgrade options are available. However beware of time wasters!
Good luck with this.you should understand that in normal situations, nude photography is done in group and not one on one. a group of photographers will setup a session and pay a model on a per hour basis. join a photography club in your area.
Good luck with that. 99.9% of people will think you are a pervert even if that is not your motive. You need to contact a modeling agency.
You are not being called a pervert by US. We are simply saying that is how you are going to be perceived by any woman you may try to approach. You are very likely going to end up in jail if you attempt to "just ask a girl you have never met". If your friend was able to do it, once, then fine, he was lucky, but that is not how it is normally done.
What does being in school have to do with not contacting a modeling agency? Go to sites such as One Model Place, Muse Cube, Model Mayhem and search for models willing to do nude posing. It is actually not as hard as you are making it out to be, but you do need to approach it the right way to avoid problems.
However, if you cannot show a high degree of professionalism with a REAL website with pro level photos and if you are not of an age, (over 18), to enter into a contract with a model, then you are not likely to get any clients.

How much can I sell this Pentax ZX-M camera and Vivitar Lens for. . .?
-I'm wondering how much I can sell this camera and lens for. What's in the photo is what you get.
1. Pentax ZX-M
2. Vivitar 70-210mm 4.5-5.6 MC Macro Focusing Zoom
Here is link of the camera and lens. Just click next (or "older") to see the rest of the photos.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/ricomon87/5鈥?/a>Right now, 35 mm SLR's with lens are selling for about $150 to as low as $50 on craigslist
Look for a similar camera on craigslist in a city near you to see what is being asked for such cameras
That camera looks nearly new. Did you ever use it?You will be lucky to get 拢40 for both of those items. I would sell them at 拢30 buy it now and take the money. I have seen mint Pentax ZX-M bodies sell for around 拢20 and that lens sells for between 拢5 and 拢20.

I draw, mostly faces. How do you think I'm going?
-Of romy from the xx.
I've definitely gotten better than I used to be.

http://tinypic.com/r/2uj1gk6/7
I'm 16 by the way.they suck ! get mad and work harder.
you can do light and shadow, but your measurements are off.
you do not use a centre line for the face or an eye and brow lines.
nor nose line or mouth line.
then use width lines for guides. latter these lines ar erased but are nessasary.
study the bones.
Try not to make the lines so hard. make them soft by shading. and make sure you get shadows and highlights in the hair. even though the hair was dark, there is always shadows and highlights, same with the face. keep at it your getting there
I havent seen your work but the more you practice with anything the more you will benefit later, try doing a Live piece, as a real figure is a lot easyier than copying from a mag or photo.
The first one is REALLY GOOD. the 2nd one is still good but I love the 1st 1
i think its pretty good but try to smoothen out the drawing by shading with a tissue or something

perhaps go out and take a couple of photos and get some inspiration from somewhere. You're painting will look better and be more rewarding if you develop your ideas rather than just painting a random landscape you're not really interested in. Or take a trip to your local art gallery... and consider painting in a different style.

Whats the shutter speed when the exposure is 1.3...?
-and the aperture is f/22.0
and how did you figure it out...thanks :)Christians awake... is there nobody out there that understands this question?
When 1.3 shows on the time scale , it means either 1/1.3 seconds that's 1 divided by 1.3 = 7/10 of a second or if the exposure is longer it can mean 1.3 seconds but there usually is this symbol after the figure " (A double quotation mark) which means seconds... minutes are a single quotation mark.
Speeds of less than a second are always defined on cameras as a fraction 1/125, 1/250 1/5000 and yes 1/1.3 The last is ugly mathematically but it keeps everything uniform. There is no way anyone can calculate that unless they know the exact amount of light passing through your lens. Would you expect the shutter speed to be the same at a given aperture at night or during a bright afternoon? You have said in other questions that you understand photography...I have serious doubts after this question.
You NEED to buy and read a book called "Understanding Exposure." It is cheap, short, and easy to read.
It would depend how much light there is, and what you have the ISO set at.
Use your light meter to work out what the shutter speed should be. And try not to take photos at f/22 unless you want them ruined by excessive diffraction.
Most importantly, try reading your camera manual, then look at this website to understand exposure: http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutoria鈥?/a>
You use the light meter in your camera.
What is the 1.3, the EV adjustment?
The shutter speed at any aperture will be determined by the amount of light falling on your subject
f/22 is a tiny aperture, almost pinhole.
and how did you figure it out...thanks :)Christians awake... is there nobody out there that understands this question?
How to color in gimp?
-i just strated using gimp and i think its really awesome but im having a hard time coloring black and white pics like comic/manga pages. i wanted to know how to color the black parts on the picsOpen your black and white image in GIMP. Make sure it is in RGB colour mode - click Image > Mode > RGB (if it is already RGB that's fine). Then click Layer > New Layer. Change the layer mode in the layers dialog to "Multiply". Now select the paint brush, choose a new foreground colour and start painting in the colour. If you make a mistake, you can use the eraser tool on the colour layer without affecting the original drawing layer.
This is how GIMP works. Learn about layers in GIMP and you will become an expert in no time.
Have fun!
