-im trying to change black and white pictures to just straight white because i cant seem to color the black parts on gimp. so i was just wondering is there a way to change the picture to just straight whiteDon't be silly, if you change a black and white pic to just white, there will be nothing there!!!!
You can colour a black and white image in GIMP. First make sure your image is in RGB colour mode. Click Image > Mode > RGB
Click Colours > Colourise, move the sliders until you get the effect you want.
Or . . .
If you just want to change the blacks to a colour, choose a new foreground colour, use the select by colour tool, set the threshold in the tool options dialog to about 50. click on a black area of the image, then click Edit > fill with FG colour.
Or . .
Another way to add false colour to a black and white image is to use Colours > Curves. Change the channel value to a colour channel, and experiment with different curves - clicking and dragging the lowest point on the graph at the bottom left will change the blacks, change to another colour channel, and experiment with another curve - the results can be quite trippy!
