I'm an A level standard student and I'm about to start my Foundation in Art and Design (this August). What do you think of my artwork for the stage I'm in? Should my work be at a higher standard or is it above average? Should I experiment more? How would you rate my work compared to most people at my stage, etc. etc. Any constructive criticism would be gladly appreciated.
I am asking this simply because I sometimes get doubts about whether I should pursue a career in the arts. There are plenty of people that are much more talented than me and since I'm moving to England for the Foundation Diploma, I'm just wondering what standard the English students are compared to me. Thank you!Harsha has put it very well ! Your photography is good, your ideas are good, but practice is needed on the drawing. ( its good but needs a little honing that only comes through practice ) I've taught quite a few students in portfolio classes for various Art institutions who were successful entrants and were no where near your standard so you have absolutely nothing to fear !
Get some depth in your charcoal drawings ;-)
Im a art student and to get into Central Saint Martins my portfolio was quite mixed i am crazy about experimenting. Im a photographer myself and your work is very good you are really talented and will do well on your foundation course! stay in touch peecee@live.co.uk
Experimentations the way forward :D
i think its very good
though i have no experience in the field, i think your photography is of a VERY high standard. i dont think i could give you any feedback on that...
your art (i hope i dont come across as rude) need some practice... you seem to have a lot of good ideas but dont exactly end up expressing them on paper as well as you hope, am i right? i suggest you do some less abstract studies to improve your understanding of structures and colors. i also noticed that you try to avoid showing the play of light as much as possible. in the more abstract pieces, this is fine but you will soon have to effectively show shadow and bright values in your work and you should definitely practice that.
doing some observational drawing (pencil is effective) will probably help you resolve these issues...
i dont mean to be overly critical, im just giving my opinion... skills can always be learned but creativity cannot. you've got the ideas; with a bit of practice, your execution will catch up to the level you see in your head.
