There's a painting at the MOMA called "American", or "The American" help me find an online picture of it?

-Are you perhaps asking about the New American Painting exhibition organized by Dorothy C. Miller in 1958-59)?

The New American Painting exhibition that traveled to eight European cities and launched the homegrown

Abstract Expressionist movement onto the interna-

tional art scene. After a preview in New York, the

exhibition traveled to Basel, Milan, Madrid, Berlin,

Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, and London, and in

each city it was overwhelmingly well received. It was

at this moment that the axis of the art world was

perceived to shift from Paris to New York. After its

success abroad, the exhibition returned to New York

for a final showing at the Museum.
