What is visual inspiration?

-What does it mean?While there does not seem to be an official definition for visual inspiration, the term is used in several instances to refer to 鈥渋nspiration from鈥lose observation鈥?(Geissler). In a 1994 article in Life about Steven Spielberg鈥檚 movie, Schindler鈥檚 List, you can find this statement, 鈥淏efore there was a movie, there were these photographs鈥攖he visual inspiration for Steven Spielberg鈥檚 masterpiece鈥?(Life). Visual inspiration is using something that can be seen as a source of inspiration.
